Enrichment & Activities
In addition to our rigorous academic program, students participate in the following ACSI sponsored academic competitions: Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, and Speech Meet.
Our 6th grade students enjoy a week-long science camp at Hume Lake and our secondary students experience a walk through history with alternating yearly trips to Washington DC and an international location (Israel in 2019).
Spanish is taught as a second language for Kindergarten through 6th grade. A basic foundation for conversational and grammatical language is taught in combination with the Hispanic culture.
Elementary CCS students enjoy weekly music classes which include playing rhythm instruments, singing, basic music reading, learning about various instruments, and a yearly school musical Christmas program. All students participate in weekly chapel music, including opportunities for student-led singing and instrumental worship.
Additionally, students can sign up for various school clubs such as surf club, robotics, and piano lessons.
CCS students also have the opportunity to get involved in various activities throughout the school year including:
Elementary and Secondary Spirit Days
Sports Field Days
Various Class Field Trips
The Surf Club at CCS meets on the beach near the end of Wadsworth in Pismo Beach. Check with the office for upcoming meetings.
Chromium Robotics is part of a robotics group called FTC (first tech challenge) where teams from across the nation design and create a remote controlled robot made to complete a set of tasks. Chromium Robotics meets at the coastal Christian school campus in the computer lab every Friday at 3pm. Depending on how much progress is being made on the robot, the minimum time spent on a Friday would be from 3-6pm. Grades 7th-12th grade are welcome, but exceptions may apply. Each team member is expected to be focused and driven. Our robotics team has a fun time and creates a positive work environment.
